Reynolds Foundation on Friday, April 25, 2025 for an intimate private dinner in honor of Judge Myron Thompson, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama. Judge Thompson was nominated to his position in September 1980 by President Jimmy Carter. He took the seat of retiring Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Along with Judge U.W. Clemon, they were the first Black federal judges in the history of Alabama. He served as Chief Judge from 1991 to 1998. He was the first African-American Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama and the first African-American bar examiner for the State. As Chief Judge, he was instrumental in preserving the Montgomery bus station where the Freedom Riders were attacked in 1961 and in establishing the Freedom Rides Museum. Sierra Club v.
