This, of course, is the right way to go about this and I am glad to have it so. . . At Dr. Fourcher'3 request for his Company, I am sending certain reports to him and will supply him with additional copies if he decides they are needed. On account of his telephone call I have ;aade no attempt to get in touch with Mr. BuMar, For the infoi'mation of all concerned in the New York office, I think I should say that I doubt very much Indeed the wisdom of any of the efforts of the American companies to obtain clearance for the commercial activities in relation to the* use of TWL through their technical representatives in these countries. This should be done in all instances by ourselves or alternatively by their medical people after being fully informed. At present none of them ar so informed, and if they meet with questions and skepticism they will be at a complete loss to proceed. I have just had a long talk with Ray Sevan of Associated Ethyl on these matters. He is probably the best informed person in the world on these matters as they relate to the European market and the British possessions. His views are in accord with my own on this, but are more emphatic than mine, in that he insists that the approach to this matter at this time must be made in essentially the same manner as that which was employed many years ago in the introduction of TEL. If this is done he believes there will be little trouble, but if it is not done properly it may react badly upon the entire issue of the use of lead in any form in gasoline. He does not say that it will but that it may, and he believes it is not wise to Jeopardise the present position of the industry. This is something which, I am sure,must be considered seriously.
