Between May, 1958 and October, 1972, 930 workers were hired at Berlin. Of this number 596 worked less than one year and 334 worked more than one year. Between the time'the plant was opened in 1942 and January 18, 1983, the total number of employees hired was 2,439. We have identified 116 cases of asbestosis, two of which also have car cinoma of the lung. There are 4 cases of carcinoma of the lung with no demonstration of asbestosis. All of these workers have had filed for them by the plant first report of injury as required by law. Forty (40) of the above mentioned cases have filed both workmen's compen sation and third party suits. Thirteen (13) people have filed workmen's compensation claims. Sixty-three (63) workers have not pursued either workmen's compensation or third party suit approach.
