Special Departmental Physical Examination for Akron Main Plant Workers Exposed to Asbestos Fibers.
An OSHA regulation requires comprehensive pulmonary examinations for all workers directly exposed to asbestos fibers longer than five micrometers. It is therefore necessary for all such workers to receive annually the special pulmonary examination as stated by A. V. Gold, M.D. In addition to the annual examination, preemployment and reassignment examinations are required.
The current list of workers who are required to receive the asbestos examination includes numerous departments and job descriptions. In order to simplify this request to you, I am attaching a portion of my January 26, 1973, letter to Dr. Gold. TaiTittidaliiitaiicitidesrallTjob

Please so notify the union representative that these examinations are required. Send me a copy of that notification. Let me know if you have any questions about this request.
