Chen, Stockton HQ t PLAINTIFF'S EXHIBIT r JMMC- 113 Subject : AIRBORNE ASBESTOS CONCENTRATIONS AT DENISON PLANT The recent Industrial Hygiene Survey Report, prepared by Galson Technical Services, Inc., has indicated that the airborne asbestos concentrations of all 31 samples collected in March were below the current Federal OSHA's Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 2.0 f/cc (8-hr TWA) or 1.3 f/cc_.(12-hr TWA). However, one sample was in excess of the proposed new OSHA Standard of 0.5 f/cc (8-hr TWA) or 0.3 f/cc (12-hr TWA), namely. Slash Saw Operator, Lawrence Arnold, 1.08 f/cc. For this station, the local exhaust ventilation efficiency, work practices, and housekeeping need to be checked/improved. Also, it is highly recommended that the slash saw operator wear his respirator. In addition, the recommendations given on page 6.of the report by Mr. Chuck C. Siu should be followed.
