Teuscher Desicjn Engineering Industry Control Department General Electric Company 1501 Roanoke Blvd. Salem, VA 24153 Dear Mr. Teuscher: I have been asked to reply to your letter of March 24, 1976 concerning the fabrication of our TV BORD from the standpoint of the generation of airborne asbestos dust. Our investigations, including experimental runs we have made and observations of operations in our customers' plants, have shown that the variables in a punch press operation such as feed rate, size, thickness and number of pieces being produced have a great effect on dust generation. Variations in dust counts from different operations are so groat that no generalizations can be made. The only way to determine whether or not a TV BORD punching operation meets OSHA exposure limits is to monitor using their prescribed procedure. Please contact me directly in Denver if you wish to discuss this problem in more detail. Very truly yours, V Edmund M. Fenner, Director Knvi ronmon La 1 So rv.i cor.
