The Silver Memorial Bridge that spans the Ohio River between West Virginia and Ohio, near Point Pleasant, West Virginia, replacing the Silver Bridge which collaps ed in December, 1967, is built to meet stringent new specifications, including a lead based anti-corrosive primer coat. Built in accordance with the specifications and under the supervision of the West Virginia State Road Commission, the bridge has a field coat of red lead primer, as do all other bridges in the State. "It has been our experience that this type of paint performs satisfactorily when sub jected to conditions found throughout our State", reports the West Virginia State Road Commission.
