You have done an outstanding job in tying in a tremen dous amount of information on lead together. As you know very little high quality work has been done on lead in controlled experiments. We have fed fairly high levels of lead to dogs. In these feeding tests we were trying to determine the effect of lead on growth and trying to determine if a relatively high level of lead would be toxic to dogs. We fed lead in two forms. The first form was lead acetate and the second form was lead as metallic lead. The assays that we used on the blood were not very sensitive with the result that our blood assays are almost worthless. We would like to repeat this work sometime and perhaps use more sensitive assays. If we do this work, would you be interested in co-operating with us and perhaps doing some of the histological work or getting it done? If the work is done it will be because of my own academic curiosity and will have very little commercial significance. If you think you would be interested in something of this type, then perhaps we can set up some experiments that will enable us to get the work done most easily.
