Bell Location: 5 West subject: CMA/VCM Lawsuit At the CMA/VCM meeting on 5/14/80, Mr, Ed Frost (general counsel for CMA) informed the technical panel of a lawsuit where CMA has been joined. It appears that the plaintiff alleges CMA failed to timely release information on VCM which would have been beneficial to warn that vinyl cyanide could cause cancer also. This sounds far out but evidently the plaintiff's attorney has several industry people who say that VCN is likely to be similar to VCM (structural ly). The important point is that Ed Frost said the legal fees to CMA/VCM producers and users could be $100,000.
