CHEMICALS -------------------- % INDUSTRIES TO T. E. Baldauff FROM H. B. Lovejoy, M.D, INTEROFFICE / LAKE CHARLES DATE January 18, 1984 SUBJECT VCM/Health Audit JAN 1 8 1984 I have received the above document and believe that paragraph "F", Medical Surveillance, under Section III is the only part that v pertains to the Medical Department. At present we are performing \semi-annual physical examinations, in accordance with OSHA stan dards, on all production workers with greater than 10 years expo sure. We have attempted to continue these on production people who have been transferred out of that exposure but we have been / relatively unsuccessful in having them appear when scheduled. Maintenance workers, on the other hand, are nearly impossible for us to monitor and if. one day's work in Plant B means one year of VCM exposure, probably 90% of our maintenance people will qualify. This means we will have to do semi-annual physicals on all Maintenance personnel employed over 10 years because I have much doubt that we can actually otherwise identify those individuals who meet these criteria. If you have suggestions as to how we can identify these individuals, I would welcome them. All other production and maintenance workers will continue to receive their annual examinations. HB/fb Sc.
