Thla sample la the remiculite u received froa the aaaufacturer. 7 The sample ha* bean heated and expanded. Tha x-ray pattern roughly fit* tha data for chlorite. Thla would be expected because of tha cheaical and structural siailarlties betvaen rarnlcullta and chlorite. Chlorite la a nagnealua aluaim* a illcate, ehlie tha cheaical foraula for unheated vermlculite la (Mg,7e)3(Al,Si)40;Lcr(Cfl)a-MlgO).
Sample t 317-1*20, ?-206l.
Using the preceding staple (317-1*19) a* a standard, this sample (eraicullta used in cooling beda) la about 75 percent crystalline. There la about 50 percent chlorite, 15-25 percent 7a0a, ud if goarts la present the aaount la not aore than 2 percent, lo trldynlte or eriatoballte could be detected.
