Dear Mr, Shah;
In responding to the request for funding of the epidemiology study, I noticed the nameplate capacities used to develop each company's pro-rata share, I would like to make two comments concerning the capacities.
The OxyMar facility has a nameplate capacity of 1,400 million pounds, not the 1,500 million pounds used in the calculation.
The Formosa number appears low compared to the physical assets they have on the ground. It is true that Formosa had their older Baton Rouge unit off-line for major renovation in late 1992 and early 1993. However, this plant was down an extended period of time in 1993 due to Formosa's inability to procure chlorine in 1993. A temporary aberration of production ability does not change nameplate capacity but rather impacts practical capacity. A fair valuation for Formosa should be based off the 1994 nameplate capacity.
