Swapping The C-550's 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To perform this task in a safe and efficient manner without damage to equipment or injury to personnel. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the operations supervisor and the senior operation specialist to ensure that this procedure is fully complied with. 2.2 It is the responsibility of the senior operations specialist and operations specialist to ensure that this procedure is executed in a safe and efficient manner. 3.0 Safety notations: 3.1 Monogoggles, hearing protection, and block safety equipment is required for doing this job. 4.0 Special Notations: 4.1 The bearing filter indicator, inlet filter indicator, and primary separator indicators listed in this procedure, are located on the west panel of the compressor. If these indicators show orange in the sight glass, the compressor wont operate at full potential. Put compressor in EMTS system for repair. NOTE: The separator indicator can be checked by subtracting the system pressure from the sump pressure. The separator should be replaced if the differential pressure reaches 10 psig. 5.0 Procedure: 5.1 Inspect the following items on the off line compressor to insure its capabilities before it is put on line. Check the oil level, it should be at 50% level in the sight glass, check the bearing and filter indicators, check the position of the cooling tower water inlet and outlet valves, and the compressor discharge valve. All these valve should be opened. Also check bleed valves on the oil system to ensure they are closed. Call the boardman and let him know you are going to swap the air compressors. 5.3 Start the down compressor by turning the switch to the "hand" position and pressing the start button. 5.4 Leave both compressors running, while monitoring the operating conditions of the compressor you just started. Check the oil level, return lines, filter and bearing indicators, temperature and pressure gauges, and look for any leaks. 5.5 Place standby compressor in the OFF position. 5.6 Call the boardman again, to tell him the swap is complete and everything is fine outside. 5.7 He may tell yQu to open or close the bleeds more to adjust the air pressure.
