UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION 270 PARK AVENUE. NEW YORK, N.Y. 10017 PLAINTIFFS EXHIBIT UC-210 May 3, 1974 George Jacobson, M.D. Department of Radiology Los Angeles County Hospital 1200 North State Street Los Angeles, California 90033 Re: E. J. Sinclair E. M. Grab Dear Doctor Jacobson: In accordance with a telephone conversation on Thursday, May 2, with your secretary, I am sending you under separate cover six x-ray films on Mr. E. J. Sinclair and ten x-ray films on Mr. E. M. Grab, E, J. Sinclair: 9/3/64 3/8/66 2/23/67 9/29/70 6/29/72 12/20/73 E, M, Grab: 5/6/66 9/10/68 9/29/70 10/27/70 10/27/70 5/15/72 5/15/72 12/21/72 l/l 8/74 1/18/74 Both of these men are presently employed at a Union Carbide asbestos mill in King City, California. A copy of the pertinent medical record on each man is enclosed. On a recent visit to this location I reviewed the medical records of all employees and found these two which are questionable. The spirometry reported on each had been unavailable locally until recently. > I am sending them to you so that you can give us your opinion concerning the diagnosis for each, and if a diagnosis of asbestosis has not been made roentgenologically, what your recommendations would be. The levels of chrysotile asbestos to which these men have been exposed were never excessive; and although the requirements have recently been lowered, we feel that we have maintained a safe work place from the start. After these films have served their purpose, I would appreciate your returning them to the George L. Mee Memorial Hospital, 300 Canal Street, King City, California 93930. Thank you for your help in this matter. Very truly yours. JJW:BA Attachments ( John J. Welsh, M.D. Corporate Medical Director M 1934
