LOUISIANA 70764 604 667-4321 ALL POWER PLANT EMPLOYEES Subject: Yearly Noise Level Survey This report is in keeping with our yearly requirement to audit the noise level exposure of the personnel working in the Power Plant, and inform these personnel of these levels and the necessary protection to prevent health damage. The following tabulation is a list of areas in this plant and the noise level found in the inmediate area this year and last year. Reviewing the two years, it can be seen that in some areas considerable improvement has been made. This is due mainly to the construction of concrete block walls around some of the boiler fans. It can be seen that the improvement has only been to the area around the fans but inside the walls the noise is no better than before, and sometimes is worse. From this list of noise levels and the limit set at which no hearing loss is expected (85 dba), it can be seen that this plant has very few areas which are not above the limit. There is a continual effort to reduce these levels and several things have been done with good results. A few of these are the walls around the fans, gas lines on the boiler fronts have been lead coated and insulated, the leak on the block valve for Boiler //4 was repaired, silencers have been installed on various vents in the plant, and a concrete wall was constructed around the //I Auxiliary Control Room. Due to the high noise levels that continue to exist in this area, it is manditory that all personnel working in this block outside the control rooms, warehouse, and office areas wear hearing protection at all times.
