1910.93c Asbestos (d) (1) Personal protective equipment Revision to read; Compliance with the exposure limits prescribed by para graph (b) of this section may not be achieved by the use of respirators or shift rotation of employees, except: r ' ' - - - Tfi> During the time period necessary to'install the '**" engineering controls and to institute the work practices * required by paragraph (c) of this section; (ii) In work situations in which the methods pre scribed in paragraph (c) of this section are either tech nically not feasible or feasible to an extent insufficient to reduce the airborne concentrations of asbestos fibers below the limits prescribed by paragraph (b) of this section; (iii) In emergencies; ... . (iv) Where o-orations involve only occasional handling of small quanwiLies of asbestos fiber, e.g. twice each 8-hour shift or less, ana provision of engineering control would impose an unwarranted financial burden; (v) Where both respirators and personnal rotation are allowed by subdivisions (i), (ii) , or (iii) of this subparagraph, and both are practicable, personnel rotation ; shall be preferred and used; or (vi) Where respirators are permitted under subdivision -r(iv) of this subparagraph, their use shall be subject to the following limitations: 1. Respirator shall not be worn for more than 60 minutes in any 8-'nour shift. 9 2. Respirator shall not be worn for more than 30 minutes in any hour in the 8-hour shift. 3.
