Buck of their Grand Rapids office relative to a man who thinks he might have been made ill from the handling of Ethyl Gasoline. I have discussed this with Mr. Webb and he thinks the best way to handle it would be for you to get in touch with Mr. Fellingham at Chicago, whom I believe you know, and handle the matter in the way you two agree would be best. It may be that you gentlemen will conclude it is not advisable for the Ethyl Corporation to appear because that might excite the man to believe that we took the matter seriously} on the other hand, if he does need medical advice and is in anything like the condition that is alleged, of course, we would want to do everything we could to assist in his recovery. We would appreciate your sending us a report after you have discussed the matter with Mr. Fellingham. Buck, who is our Accident Ckrlc at our Grand Rapids office, concerning the case of a of Allegan, Michigan, whom it is believed may have recexvec^^* lead poisoning from Rea Crown Ethyl Gasoline. I have discussed the case with Dr. Morton and we do not believe from the picture presented that.Ethyl has anything to do with the. matter. I am advising our Grand Rapids office not to get into the matter, but to advise us if there are any further developments. Our Commission Agent at Allegan, Mich, had a man working for him by name of About 3 weeks ago he was taken sick with what the family thought was "flu11 apd they sent for Doctor Flinn. ^ J ^ ^ h a s had a fever from 101 to 104 every day. He broke out with blotches about size of a dime - reddish ana looked like the start of a boil. These blotches soon dried and became the color of a light colored mole. Flinn called in Dr. Qsmun but neither doctor knows what is the matter. Dr. Flinn told the family it might be his teeth a s t e e t h are bad but the Dr. told our agent he didn't know what it was. = On Saturday they called a Dr. Malcom Smith from Grand Rapids in consultation but he told them he doesn't enow what it is - we have tried to locate Dr. Smith today but have failed up to now and it is 10 P.M. - He is a new doctor in G.R., having lately moved here from Allegan. Mr*5 has been talking to our Agent about the possibility of McCarn being poisoned with Ethyl. has been delivering for about 5 years and it appears that last fall he had some cracks in his hand and complained that the R. C. Ethyl gasoline made his hands smart and burn, whereas the regular Red Grown didn't seem to affect his hands at all. The Mrs. seems to have it in her head t h a t H a s lead poisoning and her two brothers were at Allegan yesterday and they are talking lead poisoning. It is certain that M M W f r is a very sick man and our salesman call ed from Allegan today to say that unless f H H f e got some help soon he could not last long. We have not made any first hand investigation and are only giving you what we have learned from our salesman, Mr. Fowler, who lives at Allegan and-who has called at in a friendly way - and it is his reports we are giving you.
