While in the States recently, I visited Professor Carlo Tanburro, Professor of Medicine & Community Health; Acting Chairman, Department' of Community Health; Chief, Division of Occupational Health; Director, Liver Reaearch Centre, University of Louisville, Kentucky. We discussed VC clustering, and why some particular Plants, which have been manufacturing VCM/PVC pre-1962, have never had a case of ASL. As a result of our discussions, we had the feeling that, for ASL to develop, certain circumstances are required, and that a co-factor may be needed. I was wondering if you would be prepared to help in identifying such a factor? I am enclosing a pro-forma with certain chemicals mentioned, and I should be very grateful - if you are willing - if you would tick off the years in which any of the chemicals listed was used, if in fact they were used at all, and return the form to me. I would definitely communicate back to you with any results obtained, and with what conclusions Professor Tanburro and I have made Before, however, releasing any information with reference to any of the completed questionnaires, I will contact the individual who is responsible for that questionnaire, in order to discuss that information further, and to seek an appropriate, acceptable way forward. It should be remembered that this exercise is purely a research topic, and therefore may yield no positive results. I look forward to hearing from you and receiving your comments.
