Mr. Don Seqrest CAL Ink 1404 Fourth Street Berkeley, CA 94710
Dear Don:
At Chris Pierson's request, I am enclosing Vista's OSHA hazard determination for Vista 47 Ink Solvent. This document along with the Material Safety Data Sheet can be used for your hazard communication program.
As to Proposition 65 warning requirements, we believe the following
to be true.
It is my understanding that the "Soots, tars, and
lubricant base oils ..." listing is substantially the same listing,
or reference, as IARC Monograph 33. Based on this interpretation,
the non-applicability determination in the attached hazard
determination would also apply to the Proposition 65 chemical list
that became effective on March 1. In other words, no Proposition 65
labeling is currently required for Vista 47 Ink Solvent.
Vista is currently developing analytical methods for the individual polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (i.e., Benz(a)anthracene) to determine if they are present in "detectable quantities". Warning requirements for these are effective later in 1988.
Please contact me at 713/531-3445 if you have questions on the above.
Sincerely,
Thomas G. Grumbles, C.I.H. Environmental Quality Manager
