more engineering: From the design stage, right
through to the finished product, the skill and experience of Kewanee engineers is applied continually. First in the de signing and proper proportioning of boilers to assure maxi mum steam production . . . then studying each step of their manufacture . . . and finally in numerous tests of the finished product to make certain it performs as planned
more material goes into Kewanees to insure extra
strength and the generous sizing of ail parts that equips them to handle large overloads with efficiency. Even the Kewanee Boilers of compact design . . . intended for use when less floor space or head room is available ... are never skimped in materials or measurements hence operate at full efficiency throughout their entire firing range.
more labor is put into Kewanees. Notice the smooth
riveting, the carefully welded seams, the fine finish of all
cast parts! This requires more labor but it puts something extra into the boilers that reflects quality.
more experience: Over 85 years of boiler build
ing experience can't be matched by guesswork. When a Kewanee goes onto a job the owner gets all the "know how" Kewanee has accumulated during many years of fabricating boilers of steel.
These are things . . . some of them intangible . which make Kewanee Boilers different and better.
nationwide representation: There is a Ke
wanee representative as near as your telephone and every branch is staffed with men who know boilers and the many problems of generating steam. They are anxious to sene you. See back cover for listing of branch offices.

for heavy-duty sorvico prodding hejt for Uue jourtments, schools, hospitals, office buildings and factories, or ror p> ner or process steam . . . Kcvkanee '500' is a real cunt. It is 'tr.*nc. dependable and very efficient. A cv.o-p.i5i firebox t\pc. ,c :> :ne design which made the name Kewanee famous
From top to bottom and from front to rear it is built
iust
one idea ... to make it the most efficient, dependable and lone
lived boiler chat can be constructed.
Big high fireboxes provide plenty of spjee and air for the fuel :o combine with oxvgen and burn, completing the process of 0 mbustion before the gases reach the return tubes. In the long travel of the hot gases through the firebox and the lower tubes, men rhr- uch the upper tubes to the exit chamber, all usable heat is T-nsrerrtd the boiler's water.
Water surrounds both upper and lower banks of rubes ar : ail sides and top of the are chamber so the transfer of heat is tap : ur.d certain. Waterways are free of obstructions promoting rapid ..$e nr the steam bubbles to the steam disengaging area and into the ca pacious steam chamber at the top of the boiler.
The use of $ inch tubes permits more tubes and more heatme sur face further helping make the '*500" a very fast and efficient steamer And this efficiency is maintained even when the boiler is punned re produce 50%, and more steam than is guaranteed bv its rated capacity.
c
Both banks of tubes ace easily accessible through the Urge doors at front and rear . . . manholes and hand holes provide acce-s to the waterways.

The Scotch type Kc-wanee M-800 is decidedly Scotch in its uiggedncss and extreme thrittiness when it comes to pro ducing steam economically. Designed and buiit to generate steam with c-tticiency through its entire tiring range, it .an be pushed tar above its rated capacity without interrupting its usual economical operation.
The M-800 is designed on 8.2 square feet or hearing surface for each horsepower of its rated capacity. This proper pro portioning of primary anJ secondary heating surfaces :o the volume of water in the boilc-r comes only as a result ot many years of experience and continual testing to nr.J out ;.:st what is right.

certified high efficiency
Teamed with any good oil, gas or combination oil-gas burner, Kewanee M-800 performs "on the job" with overall effi ciencies of 800 and more. And this efficiency remains prac tically constant whether the boiler is being operated at 50rc or 1500 of its rated capacity.
Such efficiency figures are confirmed by certified performance tests in which the total amount of the heat in the oil or gas put into the burner and the amount of water evaporated into steam are carefully measured and converted into a figure show ing the overall operating efficiency.
A chart of typical boiler performance appears at the tight.

IS
5000 series
15 psi steam or 30 psi water
I 5 sizes ... 1,020,000 to 10,200,000 Btu
The Kewanee '5000" low pressure series is rapidly grow ing in popularity tor heating large buildings when specifications or restricted budgets require an economical boiler or unques tioned durability and efficiency.
"5000" is an electric welded series, in the fabrication of which all modern practices and improvements m welding have been combined to produce a completely dependable product ... a boiler worthy of the name Kew.inc-e. . In design the "5000" is similar to that ot the famous heavy-duty Kewanee "sOO" and has all those uuf-randing characteristics which for some Hi years have made K.w.mccBoilers dirferent and better.
Extra large and extrj high fireboxa provide ample space and air in which the burning fuel can mix with oum to complete the combustion process without seuste ot tael. Longer trjiel of g-ises . . . from the tire chamber through the lower bank of tubes then through the upper tubes to the exit chamber at the front . . . gives the boilers water a chance to absorb and use all the heat that is created in the firebox.
Circulation is rapid through generously sized water lees and between the well-spaced fire tubes, sweeping the myriad of steam bubbles up into the capacious steam chamber with out undue commotion. The disengaging areas at the w ater line are unbroken insuring a constant supply of dry steam.
As is true with all Kewanee Boilers the "5000" can be fired to produce 50fr and more than its rated capacity and continue to operate at full efficiency.
