Johns-Manville movable walls meet the fundamental architectural need for a partition or for a wall facing that can be erected, dismantled, and re-erected with the com plete salvage of materials and with a minimum of mechan ical labor. At the same time, these movable walls possess the stability and appearance of permanent wall construction.
Made of asbestos and cement--two practically indestruct ible minerals--J-M movable walls are strong, rotproof, and long-lasting. They present a smooth, flush, attractive sur face with high resistance to wear and tear. They serve equally well as interior partitions or as the interior surfac
ing of structural walls. To meet varied architectural and budget requirements, Johns-Manville movable walls are made in four distinct types, as described below.
Undivided Responsibility
Johns-Manville Asbestos Movable Walls are manufactured, sold and erected by Johns-Manville. An experienced engi neer will answer your inquiry to any one of the JohnsManville offices listed on the back cover. J-M Class A Walls A noncombustible moderate-priced, mov
able wall-construction composed of all-mineral core, flush panels with sturdy asbestos-cement surfaces and steel trim. Available with a textured stipple finish in restful colors to provide enduring beauty with a new low in maintenance, or in natural gray for (ob painting.
J-M Universal Walls These flush, moderate-priced walls
are widely accepted as a general use partitioning. Finished wails consist of a sealed core faced on both sides with asbestos-cement sheets. Furnished as a complete wail section 1 34" thick with either wood or steel trim. Available in a textured stipple finish in standard colors or in natural gray for job pointing.
J-M Imperial Transitone"' Walls This is a fireproof,
movable wall construction with integrally colored asbestos panels. The color goes all the way through each panel, light in weight, rugged and sturdy. Transitone is available from stock in light green or light tan.
J-M Imperial Transite11 Walls The fireproof asbestos
panels are furnished in their natural light-gray color which may
be waxed, decorated, or left as is. Both Transite and Transitone
employ patented steel studs on which the panels are hung with
metal fasteners. Finished wails provide a rigid, double-faced par
tition approximately 4" thick.

Class A Movable Walls are furnished with a texture finish in three standard colors--light green, light tan and light grey. The full color photographs on these pages show the light green and light tan finishes.
The finish applied to Class A Movable Partitions is a tough, hard, durable film, many times thicker than the usual parti tion finish. It is mar and scratch-resistant . . . rejects stain and soil. .. can be easily washed and even scrubbed, if neces sary. If damaged, it can be touched up inexpensively to look like new . . . and, unlike other types of factory-finished par titions. it can be repainted with ordinary paint. In addition to the standard textured finish described on page 3, Class A Asbestos Movable Walls are also furnished in their natural finish. They may be left in this pleasing natural grey of asbestos-cement or they may be field decorated to meet architectural require ments. Because of the variety of design treatments possible and their clean modern lines, they are ideal for offices, schools, and institutions, as well as com mercial or industrial areas.
Completely Non-Combustible
Class A Movable Partitions are made with an all mineral core, with sturdy asbestos cement surfaces, and with steel trim. They are entirely non-combustible in construction. Both flush and glazed partitions are available in ceiling high or free standing heights.
Walls are erected complete with metal doors, door hardware, glass and trim. All of these parts, including the panels themselves, are standard and interchange able permitting complete salvage of materials.

Because of its simplified construction, the J-M Universal Wall is one of the easiest and most economical of all mov able partitions to erect and relocate. The panels forming the finished wall consist of a wood framed sealed core faced on both sides with asbestos-cement sheets. The complete wall sections are 1%" in thickness and are supplied in the stand ard sizes shown on page 10. The asbestos panels are flush and projection-free and have a clean, smooth surface that is easy to maintain. They are light in weight and easy to handle. The''dry'' method of erection assures little, or no interruption to routine activities. Universal Walls are supplied in standard colors with a stippled texture finish or in their natural light gray finish which can`be left as is or decorated as required. Space for electrical wiring is provided within the wall itself. The de mountable base permits easy access to concealed wiring. With Universal Walls, the changing space requirements involved in today's industrial expansion can be readily solved. They are just as adaptable for offices in factory areas as in executive quarters.
J-M Universal Walls may be erected either solid or with glass. Panels with glass are interchangeable with door units or solid panels.

Transitone Walls provide movable partitions and interior wall facings that need no periodic painting or decorative treatment. The asbestos panels are integrally colored at the factory. The color cannot chip or wear off because it goes all the way through each fireproof wall panel.' Think what this means in the elimination of maintenance expense! Walls will keep their first-day newness for years to come. Stock colors are light green and light tan.-Where large quantities are involved other colors may be supplied.
Light in weight, fireproof, rugged and durable, Transitone combines two basic and fundamental advantages never be fore available in movable walls--flexible construction and permanently colored wall panels. When relocation becomes necessary, there is no sacrifice of movability or waste of material.

Besides being available as ceiling-high and free standing partitions, railings and glazed railings, Imperial Transite serves equally well as the interior surfacing for structural walls. Wiring, electrical outlets, piping, etc. can be easily incorporated within the wall--an important advan tage when changes or repairs are necessary. Further more, they may be placed anywhere within the wails --a distinct advantage over other types of wall con struction. The 20-year history of satisfied users is an acknowledgement of the basic quality and long term economy of Imperial Transite Walls.
Imperial Transite Walls, like Transitone, offer the advantages of privacy and quiet which are usually associated with masonry. Construction of Transite and Transitone Walls is identical. Transite, how ever, is not integrally colored but has the naturalgray color characteristic of asbestos-cement products. It can be painted, waxed, covered with leather, cloth or other fabric; or just left in its attractive, lightgray finish. Where desired, the decorative finish and the panel scheme may be different on opposite sides of the same wall. Transite and Transitone panels may be applied in either a vertical or a hori zontal pattern. Typical elevations are shown on the next page. Imperial Wall Facing
Both Imperial Transitone and Transite Wall construc tions have the outstanding advantage of being eco nomically adaptable as an interior facing for exterior and core walls, as well as for partitions. Thus used they
yield maximum benefits in providing a completely flex ible "dry wall" interior. Because these panels are of the same appearance and construction as the interior partitions, all walls of a room have the same finished appearance.
With this complete system of interior "dry" construc tion, ducts, risers, and electrical services, concealed in the wall facing, are always readily accessible for altera tions and repairs. Heating and air-conditioning con vertors are concealed, yet can be instantly exposed for servicing. This method of wall facing is adaptable to any window embrasure treatment.
When Imperial Transitone or Transite is used as a wall facing or wainscoting, construction is speedy. Con fusion, mess and "dry out" time are eliminated. Main tenance costs are lowered and there are no costly re-decoration problems.
While Johns-Manville Transitone and Transite Walls and Wail Facing are adaptable to any module, use of a i-foot multiple is the most economical. This gives maxi mum interchangeability between wall units of different types and insures economy in future changes through the use of stock sizes.

Imperial Transitone and Transite for research laboratories
Johns-Manville asbestos movable partitions and wall facing offer complete flexibility in the construction of industrial re search, school, and institutional laboratories. They permit the rapid extension or reduction of laboratory spaces, or the easy removal of a laboratory wall and re-erection in another area. Imperial walls for laboratory construction are specifically de signed to contain laboratory services, electrical wiring, etc., within the wall. Yet, these service connections are easily accessi ble. Above the work surface, a continuous row of access panels permits repair or removal of supply lines without disturbing furniture or equipment. An alternate method is to carry the laboratory services on the wall faces below the bench tops. Imperial walls are available in either the Transitone or Transite type. The pastel colors of integrally colored Transitone make work ing areas cheerful and attractive. Because the color runs all the way through the sheet, Transitone requires only an occa sional washing to keep fresh and new for years. Scratches and gouges that deface ordinary finishes are hardly noticeable on Transitone partitions and wall facing. When field painting is desired to conform to an established decorative standard, Transite laboratory partitions and wall facing can be painted immediately after installation. Because they are of dry wall construction, laboratories can be occupied at once without costly delays and lost time between erection and decoration. Data sheets describing these constructions may be obtained from any J-M Construction Department Office.

The most important requirement for any washroom equip ment is a smooth, easily cleaned surface that will withstand abuse and will need little, if any, maintenance. Another requi site, particularly for schools, is sturdiness and toughness. Johns-Manville Transite Toilet Compartments more than meet these standards. In schools, in industrial plants and in public washrooms these heavy duty compartments can be expected to give satisfactory service for years and years.
Johns-Manville Transite Compartments are built of asbestoscement in I" thick solid panels to the usual heights. They have a sanitary, casy-to-maintain surface. They are structurally strong and permanent and are highly resistant to steam and hot water. They will not burn, rot or rust and have clean, simple, straight forward lines. Since they are unusually neat and attractive, these compartments are architecturally correct for modern washrooms. Compartments ace furnished with head rail or in suspended construction, with a full line of hardware and necessary accessories.
Modifications of standard designs are easily made to meet specific requirements. In primary schools, for instance, all horizontals can be eliminated from the front elevation by the ise of channel posts instead of frontal pilasters.
