No. 262 - 1949 March 3 RESIGNATION OF J. J. MORSMAN ANNOUNCED The resignation of J. J. Morsman as a member of the Board of Directors has been announced, effective today. Mr. Morsman had fifty-six years of Company service, beginning his' career in 1393 as an engineer with the Carter "White Lead Company in Omaha. He was later successively treasurer, vice-president and president of the Carter com pany. In 1929 he became assistant manager of the Chicago Branch of National Lead Company and nine years later was elected a director. ROCKWELL AND MORSMAN HONORED AT LUNCHEON Fletcher W. Rockwell and J. J. Morsman were honored by their associates at a luncheon on February 23. They were presented with inscribed silver trays in recognition of their long and distinguished service with the Company. Mr. Rockwell's resignation as Chairman of the Board was announced on January 23 and Mr. Morsman*s as a member of the Board of Directors became effective today. NIEDERMEXER IS MGR. OF TEXAS SMELTING & REFINING DIVISION 0. D. Niedermeyer has been appointed manager of the Texas Smelting end Refining Division. The appointment also places the Company's antimony smelting operations under his direction. Mr. Niedermeyer was employed in 1948 to manage National Lead's Mexican antimony mines. He is a graduate of the Missouri School of Mines and was general manager of the Companio de Oruro, which operates tin mines in Bolivia, before coming to the Company. DIEHLMAN IN PROMOTION POST George Diehlman has been appointed sales promotion manager for pro tective coating paints, effective March 1. He will make the Brooklyn Research Laboratories his headquarters. His work will be primarily with branch sales personnel, especially those representatives who are responsible for the sales of red lead, metal pro tective paints and Pigment E. Mr. Diehlman was in the Brooklyn laboratories' metal protective coatings department before the appointment. PRISLIN NEW PACIFIC COAST MANAGER OF INDUSTRIAL FINISHES R. H. Prislin has been appointed manager of the industrial finishes de partment for the Pacific Coast Branch. He assumes the duties formerly per formed by W. C. Minsinger, who was recently appointed Northern Division man ager of the branch. Mr. Prislin was the formulating chemist of the Arco Company and assis aW tant manager and technical director of the Ferro Enamel Corporation before coming to National Lead. During World War II he was chief paint inspector for the Atlantic Coast Division of the U. S. Maritime Commission. 0000-NLI-000024855 (over) Herbert L. Kelly, assistant to the vice-president in charge of sales for, the Magnus Metal Division', died on February 25. He was fifty-one years old ' at the time of his death. _ .... -V .j..-,....... Mr. Kelly had thirty-three years of Company service, beginning his career as a stenographer in Magnus headquarters. He was in military service during World War I, and returning, was promoted to chief clerk in the Magnus office. He then joined the sales staff and remained in that department up to the time of his death. Mr. Kelly's mother survives him. THIRTY-SEVEN WATCH AWARDS MADE Thirty-seven employees received watch awards in January and February in recognition of twenty-five years of service with the Company.
