Schenke Mr. Schenke's memo to Mr. Gabel, dated January 15, 1977, presents a tabulation of Burlington projects and priorities. The project design phase to the preparation of CAR grade estimates is now estimated at 413 man/days (1.8 man years). The equivalent of three project engineers are currently working on EPA projects, such as mechanical seals, VCM unloading, slurry pumps, etc. We are awaiting the generation of process information to be developed by the Process Design and Technical Support Groups. Such information includes the carbon adsorber and water stripper process design packages, the results of plant testing of a high pressure reactor cleaning system, etc. Completion schedules for this process effort are presently unavailable. No project effort is currently underway for Flemington. It is believed that much of the process data for Burlington will be readily adaptable for Flemington. The completion of this overall project within the time frame proposed to EPA quite obviously depends on Plant priorities. Hie commitment of Process Engineering personnel to problems such as 315 XL is vitally important to the Manufacturing strategy, but will have serious ramifications on the EPA/VCM projects if shift- coverage by P.E, is extensive. Project effort begins after process data is available. It is planned to enlist the services of outside engineering and design personnel. Our project engineers will supervise and coordinate their activities. In this way it is hoped that compliance can be achieved on schedule.
