GUSTAV JEBSEN DIES SUDDENLY Dr* Gustav Jebsen, formerly managing director of Titan Company A/S and vicepresident of Titan Company Inc0, Company subsidiaries, died suddenly in London on January 20* He was 66 years of age* Dr. Jebsen received his Fh.D. degree from the University of Brussels in 1905* Following World War I he was one of the organizers of the Norske Aktieselekab for Elektrokemisk Industrie to further the development of chemical industries utilizing Norway's hydroelectric power. In 1919 he was prominent in the founding of Titan Company A/S and in 1922 he became managing director. When Titan Company Inc. was formed in 1929s, Dr. Jebsen was appointed a vice-president. These positions he held until his retirement last year. After World War II he was active in Norwegian rehabilitation and reconstruction work0 He is survived bv his widow, ttrs0 Lilia Jebsen of Paris, and three sons -- Per, who lives in London < Jfens Henrik, New York City, and John Gustav, a student at Princeton University; SARGENT AND PETERS IN NEW POSITIONS A. D. Sargent has been appointed comptroller of the Atlantic Branch, succeeding H. W. Dickerson, who has retired after thirty-nine years of Company service. Mr. Sargent, formerly comptroller of the St. Louis and Southwestern branches, also becomes comptroller of the Philadelphia Branch. Charles F. Peters, formerly comptroller of the Philadelphia Branch, has been appointed comptroller of the St. Louis and Southwestern branches. Mr. Dickerson started with the Company's Chicago Branch in 19H. He came to New York in 1919, working in the General Office comptroller's department. He became assistant comptroller of the Company, holding this position until his appointment in 1933 as comptroller of the Atlantic Branch. SPBCHT APPOINTED TRADE SALES MANAGER Kenneth C. Specht has been named manager of trade sales for the Company and also chairman of the Company's mixed paint and white lead sales committee, succeeding Fred McCarthy. Mr. Specht began his employment with National Lead in 1935 as a bookkeeper with the Pacific Coast Branch. He became assistant purchasing agent and an. inside salesman for the branch a year later. In 1939 Mr. Specht became an industrial territory salesman* He was made manager of the industrial sales department in 191*1*, assistant manager of the Southern Division of the Pacific Coast Branch in 19l*7 and manager in 191*8. Mr. Specht was transferred to New York in July of last year to serve as assistant to the manager of sales, paints, pigments and oils of the Company0 L. A. THOMPSON TRANSFERRED TO NEW TORE OFFICE Lloyd A. Thompson, formerly production manager of the Pacific Coast Branch, has beer transferred to the General Office production department, where he will be in charge of paint production activities. Mr. Thompson started with the Company in 1921* as a chemist in the varnish department cf the San Francisco paint plait. Four years later he became assistant superintendent of the department. Milliken, assistant soiager of the Tltaaitm Division. -The' award, sponsored by the American Institute cf Wining and Metallurgical Engineers, will be granted to Mr. Millikea far his "outstanding accomplishments" in advancing the technique of the metallurgy and beneficiatioa of titanium-bearing ores and in the field of mining management. Presentation of the award will be at the institute's annual banquet in St. Louis on February 21o PACIFIC COAST BRANCH CHANGES ANNOUNCED W,, R Bowman has been appointed prodiction manager of the Pacific Coast Branch. Mr. Bowman joined the Company in 1933 as a chemist. In the late '30s he became assistant superintendent of the varnish department and later assistant superintendent of the San Francisco paint plant. After four years in the U. S. Amy during World War II, he returned to become superintendent of the paint plant. In 19lt7 he assumed the position of general superintendent of the San Francisco plant. D. R. Crone has been named assistant Central Division sales manager. Mr. Crowe entered Company service in the San Francisco office in 193U. He became a territorial salesman in 19lt0. After four years of U. S. Air Force service, he returned to become trade sales supervisor for the Central Division in 19U9. Ho C. MacCleary is now branch manager of wallpaper, sundries and retail merchandising. He will be responsible also for supervising retail merchandising of all products sold through Company-owned stores. Mr. MacCleary began his Company career in 19L6, in charge of wallpaper and sundries sales for the brancho W. Po Pedigo has been appointed manager of the Inter-Mountain Division, with headquarters in Denver. This new division will constitute the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, southeastern Idaho, eastern Nevada, county of El Paso, Texas and the greater portion of Wyoming. Mr. Pedigo was first employed by the Company as a clerk. He became manager of the Fresno store and subsequently the Sacramento and Oakland stares during the '30s.
