IIMTRA-COMPANY CORRESPONDENCE subsidiary has filed an Occupational Disease Claim under the Ohio statute, alleging that she has cancer of the entire body* She further alleges that this condition is due to "inhalation and exposure to chemicals over a period of twenty years"o Notice of the filing of her application was first received by us on July 28tho The actual claim application was signed by her husband and it was initially filed with the Ohio Industrial Commission on June 10, 1976o Ho prior notice of the filing, nor of the employee's intention to file such a claim was received,, We have already corresponded with Mr Hagorka, at the Sprayon Bedford Heights plant, and have received advice that the employee was retired in December, 1975. They have heard that she was in extremely poor health, and was in a convalescent home. However, they had no prior -information on the alleged cancer. We must file a response, denying the claimant's application by August 15>th. We are currently reviewing Sprayon's -records relative to her employment history, etc. The Industrial Commission generally conducts an investigation into Occupational Disease Claims, for the purpose of obtaining evidence supporting the claimant's application. A medical examination by a. Commission-appointed specialist is generally obtained. In addition, there will undoubtedly be a visit to Sprayon*s plant, to obtain copies of records. There may be an Industrial Hygiene visit, and perhaps interviews with other employees, -under the aegis of the Industrial Commission.
