While we very much appreciate that your client the Fluoropolymer Product Group has a strong interest in the broad PFAS restriction proposal, we would like to urge them to currently focus on examining the proposed restriction once it becomes available on 7 February. It will be important to participate actively in the Annex XV report consultation that ECHA will launch later in March and that should really be the key focus right now. This ensures that the process remains efficient, effective and most importantly transparent. For these reasons, ECHA will at this point also not be available for a call with you and your client. Once we have received your client's comments, and a need for further clarification presents itself, then we would of course follow up. We will organise an online information session on 5 April during which we can explain the steps involved in providing comments to the consultation. Please make sure to register there. We met in 2022, alongside our client the Fluoropolymers Product Group (FPG) of Plastics Europe. The FPG will fully engage in the restriction process over the course of the year and remains at your disposal for any questions you might have related to fluoropolymers, and their life cycle. FPG and its members are involved in a number of ongoing projects, including a comprehensive Socio-Economic Analysis of the fluoropolymer industry and value-chain. I took note that on 7 February ECHA will hold a hybrid media event. From the bolding of media I assume this means no industry representatives would be invited to join the event? Might ECHA however, have time prior or after (in the days before, on the day, or the days after) to meet with FPG representatives for a short meeting? This might be useful in order to share information on the ongoing work of FPG in relation to the restriction, and discuss some thoughts and ideas on where further progress might be made. For your information FPG has been engaging with the value-chain on this topic since 3 years and will continue this cooperation throughout the restriction process. We will be holding a number of online events in the coming months (on 13 February and 28 March for example), and we are encouraging them to participate in the public consultation. Many thanks, and look forward to hearing from you. While we are currently not available for a phone call, we can share the following with you at this point: We expect the submission of the dossier on 13 January 2023 and are planning on a pre-publication in early February 2023. RAC and SEAC are checking for the conformity of the dossier during the March 2023 meetings. If found to be in conformity, the 6-months stakeholder consultation on the Annex XV restriction report is expected to be launched on 22 March 2023. Please do let us know if you have any follow up questions. All the best, Risk Management Unit I (D3) European Chemicals Agency Telakkakatu 6, P.O. Dear I hope this email finds you well and that you were able to join the call on 17 November. If you did, and had any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. Might you have a few minutes to chat by phone about the upcoming submission of the PFAS restriction dossier and the plans for ECHA in processing it - up to the start of the public consultation? The Fluoropolymers Product Group has the intention to continue to organise webinars/events in 2023, many with a view to assisting the fluoropolymer value-chain with information on how to get involved in the stakeholder consultation(s) and the type of information ECHA will be wanting to receive. Many thanks if you have the time in the coming days.
