NEW BROCHURE DETAILS NEW YORK BUILDING OODE CHANGES
Mary Vinyl-Based Products Subject to New Regulations
WAYNE, New Jersey, February 24, 1987 -- Companies manufacturing
construction products destined for use in New York State will find
useful information in a new brochure published by the Vinyl
Institute entitled "The New York State Toxicity Data Bank: Answers
for Manufacturers and Users of Vinyl Products."
The State of New York recently enacted changes in its Uniform
Fire Prevention and Building Code requiring the filing of combustion
data for certain building products used in that state. The state
also establi^ied a "toxicity data bank" that will be used to store
data collected under the regulation. Products governed by the
regulation include electrical conduit and wire insulation; plumbing
pipe, duct and thermal insulation; and interior finishes and
interior flooring finishes.
The Institute's brochure describes filing requirenents for
regulated products and includes guidelines for using the data
collected. Specifiers selecting affected products for use in the
State of New York have been urged by the State to consult the data
bank, but are not required to do so.
