December 13, 1991 Mike Balasko Mark Hross Rich Krock David Marshall Sally Mathers Joe Muhs Bud Pazar SUBJECT: MINUTES OF GVD POLYTRON/4-VCH MEETING Based on John Nikora's report of Polytron processing off-gases (8/16/91) and ACGIH's intent to establish a TLV for 4-VCH of 0.1 ppm, a meeting was held to identify issues and develop an appropriate response. As a result of this meeting, the following action items were identified: 1. Quantitative analyses and confirmation of selected off-gases (4--VCH, styrene, MMA, CH3 CHO) previously identified from Polytron sheet or molding compounds need to be conducted. Steve Balasko will follow-up on the availability of processing equipment and will determine when we can arrange for this work to be done. This information will be provided to Bob Hinderer by January 15, 1992. 2. Based on headspace analysis of Blendex which is used in this compound, the task group will determine the need for a pilot study of workplace exposures to 4-VCH around compounding operations. 3. Since Calvert City waste streams that we sell may contain 4VCH, Bob Hinderer will continue efforts to determine whether potential exposures to 4-VCH exist. 4.
