Grumbles April 24, 1990 XF:___ NIOSH REQUEST FOR MINERAL FIBER INFORMATION VISTA I spoke with Clayton Doak at NIOSH today regarding the Federal Register announcement. NIOSH is doing a preliminary evaluation of the need for a criteria document on this issue. NIOSH realizes it is a complex subject and is trying to find out what unpublished data is available and what format a document should take. The "definition of a fiber" question is a big one, which leads to further concern that all mineral fibers could be "lumped" into one category unless information is available that they shouldn't. Mr. Doak urged us to submit a letter of information regarding our work, even if final results or conclusions are not available. I believe we should do this if Vaughn is agreeable.
