N A T H A N I E L W. F A X O N , M. 0. 01 RE CT O R ' July 23, 1943- Dr. Robert Kehoe, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dear Kehoe: I have been over your bibliography, though rather hurriedly, and,as you said in your footnote, there is some interesting new work which is not recorded, and I therefore think it would be wise to say at the top that- this does not attempt to be a complete bibliography. . ` I think the second part "The Natural Occurence of Lead in Soil etc." is unnecessarily long as compared to other parts, and many of them seem to be of little interest. Is it important, for instance, to include figures on the hot springs at Nauheim, or of Portuguese mineral waters? Under Normal Values for Lead in the Tissues, etc., many could be added. I rather think the one by Minot and myself might be added: A. 3. Minot, and J. C. Aub, The distribution of Lead in the Human Organism, Journal of Industrial Hygiene, Vol. 6, page 149* under Methods of -Analysis, Lawrence Fairhall*s two papers are a m u s t , I should think: Lawrence T. Fairhall, Lead Studies I. The Estimation of Minute Amounts of Lead in Biological Material, Jour, of Industrial Hygiene, Vol. 4. page 9> 1922. Lawrence T . Fairhall. Lead Studies XI. The Rapid Method of Analyzing Urine for Lead, Jour, of Biological Chemistry, Vol. 60, page 485, 1924- The two following articles of Br. Fairhallts should also be included: The Significance of the Excretion of Lead in the Urine, Lawrence Fairhall and R. R. Sayers, Public Health Reports, Vol. 54, page 2016, November, 1939* ?- "-cision Methods in the Letermination of the Heavy N A T H A N I E L W. F A X O N , U. D. DIRECTOR 2- - Metals, Lawrence T. Fairhall, American Journal of Public Health, Mol. 28, page 825, 1938. Under treatment, I should rather like to see the-paper by Aub, Biochemical Behavior of Lead in the Body, J. A. M.A., 1935 Vol. 10A, page 87, put in._ Or, if you prefer, the one by Donald Hunter and J. C. Aub, Effect of the Parathyroid Hormone on the Excretion of Lead and of Calcium,.in Patients Suffering from Lead Poisoning. Quart.
