Cotts reviewed tha masting with tha National Cancar Instituta. ft was agraad that tha glass manufacturers would sand to tha NIMA office prior to February 1, 1967, information relating to processes, fiber diameters, types ai binders, and and use products they manufactured. Tha information is to be forwarded to NCL Tha proposal from IHF relating to an industry study for fibrous glass was reriewed. ft was agraad that tha proposal was not detailed or specific enough. Dr. L. J, C railay talked about tha type af studies the Dirisioa of Occupational Health engaged la and outlined tha present study they ware engaged in for tha asbestos textile Industry, * The Committee agreed that there has bean sereral health hasards alleged to be associated with tha fibrous glass industry. Our experience has net borne eut these allegations, Howersr, It Is our unanimous recommendation that NIMA write a latter to tha Secretary at Health and Welfare requesting that his DOH ascertain whether the health hasard exists in the Industry and help in the solution of the problem, if such exists. The Committee has specifically suggested that this be done # 2 by DOH beeause-of the excellent investigation* and report* which resulted from other investigations of such industries as beryllium, diatomits, chrome, mining, etc. The Committee agrees that existing information should be sent to Dr. L. J. Cralley of DOH for interpretation. All companies are requested to send the NXMA office all informatioacconceming health ae it relates to fibrous glass for submittal to DOH. Tfca Committee believes that the subject of management talking to the union regarding health hazards should be investigated. was suggested that any study be broadened to include all insulating materials. The Committee agreed that the data available from the Kettering Laboratories pertaining to air erosion should be sent to Dr. L. J. Cralley for interprelation.
