This conference is sponsored by the Committee for the Elimination of Lead in the District of Columbia. This Committee is affiliated with the Childrens Hospital National Medical Center. Also enclosed is a letter from the Conference Coordinator, Ms. Yvonne M. Kelley to Mr. George Worden of Hill & Knowlton. I have been in contact with Ms. Kelley and she has indicated that the panel on "other sources of lead contamination" consists of the following: Dr. Albert Fritch - Chairman, Science for Public Information Mr. Louis Lombardo - Public Interest Campaign Dr. Dan Darrow - Dartmouth Medical School, Brattleboro, Vermont Dr. Roger Challop - Private Practice Dr. Jane Lin-Fu - Health, Education and Welfare Department Dr. Katherine Mahaffy - FDA Mr. David Schoenbrod - Natural Resources Defense Council In addition, Ms. Kelley indicated that the following types of people would be in attendance or have been invited: 1. Medical Personnel, Children's Hospital. 2. Representatives of the Department of Human Resources, District of Columbia. 3. Public Housing Officials. 4. Health and Welfare Council. 5. Health Officials representing personnel from acute care facilities, mental health facilities, the AMA, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Visiting Nurses Association. 6. Federal employees from HEW, EPA, and HUD. 7. Politicians in the national and district levels; especially those involved in legislation regarding lead, such as Senators Javits and Kennedy.
