Dear Mr. Buyck:
Subject: Abex Lining Performance Variation
The results of our laboratory analysis of the 1979 Vintage Linings vs. the 1976 Linings, supplied by you, are very similar to the results submitted by Abex. Both labs showed an acetone extraction difference of more than 1.0 between the two primary linings, but both within specifications. The primaries also showed a wide variation in coefficient of friction during the fade portion of the SAE J-661 test. The secondaries showed no noticeable differences. It was noted on the Abex friction tests, that the friction, variation on three recent production lots was even wider than the variation on the two suspect linings.
Our conclusion is that the linings returned by you represent the normal variation that could be expected with the Abex compounds.
Attached are copies of our test results that were supplied previously as the tests were completed.
