Douglas Merrill Paco Textures Corporation 909 Old County Road San Carlos, California Dear Mr. Merrill: As per my phone call this morning, I am enclosing copies of rules and regulations from the Federal Register as instigated by the Environmental Protective Agency and Bureau of Labor Standards, Chapter XIII, Part 151# and Chapter XVII, Part 1910. The EPA is conducting a public hearing on the proposed standards for asbestos on February 15 at 10:00 AM at U.S. Court House, Room 1501, 312 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, California. If your company plans to make a statement at this meeting a notice must be filed 15 days before the hearing. If practical, the state ment should be submitted 10 days before the hearing. Otherwise copies of the statement may be submitted at the opening of the hearing'. Please note item 61.22 (e)(1) which prohibits the spraying of any product which contains asbestos on any portion of a building or structure. I'm confident the EPA has in mind sprayed mineral wool/asbestos structual steel fireproofing, not products such as manufactured by Paco Textures,' so the rule should be deleted or rewritten.
