' Additional follow-up reports will be forwarded as items listed with esti mated completion dates are resolved. Please contact the plant should any further information be required. Attachment 32 :IHR1 PRODUCED BY FORD RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Identify locations where asbestos has been used as Insulation. Consult Industrial Hygiene Bulletin No. 4. The plant will identify and locate on a plant layout all asbestos loca tions for reference in malntenance/construction work. ECD 1-1-86. 2. Institute a comprehensive hearing conservation program which includes employe monitoring! selection and availability of protective devices, training, and audiometric testing. Consult Industrial Hygiene Bulletin No. 16, Industrial Relations Administration Manual, and the OSHA Hearing Conservation Amendment. Monitoring survey is in progress. A project is being written to acquire new audiometric testing equipment compatible with corporate automated reporting. This equipment will also allow testing by plant personnel at a cost savings over use of outside contractor. One addi tional ear plug type is being obtained to provide additional employe choice.. Employe training will commence at conclusion of survey. ECD all items: 1-1-86. 3. Improve understanding of MATS for the nurse and/or physician. MATS ID and password have been requested for plant physician for con fidential access. Division Industrial Hygiene has been contacted to schedule next available MATS training for plant physician. 4. Discontinue purchasing (spot buy) non-approved materials without appro val of the Hazardous Materials Coordinator. Spot buys are being handled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in accor dance with IRB-40 procedures. COMPLETE. 5. Establish periodic employe exposure monitoring programs for: - Solvent vapors in oil house, paint booths, and sealer areas. - Carbon monoxide at drive-off areas. - Zinc and other welding fumes 1n teardown booth. Periodic monitoring is now done in drive-off areas for CO during all but summer months. This will be done on a monthly basis year-round. COMPLETE. . Other recommended monitoring will be Instituted after discussion Division Industrial Hygiene for specific recommendations. ECD 1-1-86. 6. Improve identification of confined spaces. Fifty (50) labels have been received from Division.
