Since then 19 research projects were accepted by its Scientific Committee and its Executive Committee and have been supported through IOEH by QAMA Other 17 proposals of research projects were also processed by IQEH but not recommended for support by Scientific Committee The projects accepted and supported can be divided into following groups of practical interest I. Studies of comparable epidemiologic experience in the mines of chrysotile in Canada projects 1 210 of chrysotile in Italy project 5 of anthophyllite in Finland project 7 II Studies of epidemiologic experience in the asbestos cement factories projects 8 16 and the shipvards project 5 / III Studies of epidemiological experience with mesothelioma among the general population projects 2 19 dd. IV Studies of chemical state and_trans- and_trans- formations of fibres during technological steps from mining to application of products projects 3 11 15 18 V. Studies of dynamics within the body and of mechanisms of biological effect of asbestos projects 4 6 12 14 17 Up to March 1974 eighty scientific articles and books were published originating in the research projects supported by QAMA This represents an important portion of the scientific literature on biological effects of asbestos and by its number and by its high standard it indeed contributes a great deal to the current objective knowledge of the subject *** -3- We respectfully submit a survey of the research projects processed by IOEH showing the research projects accepted and supported by QAMA and the proposals which were not recommended In those accepted we show the name the principal investigator the approved cost and the summary of the proposed investigation followed by a list of published documents most of these documents are shown as a copy of IOEH filing cards containing also a summary and the coding numbers It should be mentioned that also a large number of scientific papers originating in our projects were presented at conferences and some papers are currently in press They also contributed to objective scientific knowledge of the subject but they are not included in the present survey and useful We hope that the survey will be found interesting PVP enclosures Premysl V.
