TestSubstance `Thetestsubswtaasrenceciveedfrom 3MCorpoornaOcttoibero29n, 1998andwasassignedWildlife InteLtdm. idaentitficaitiononumnbear46l75.Thetestsubstancewasdescribedas awhitepowder. Itwas identified as FC-95 from lot number 217 (T-6295). Fathead `minnowsarerepresentativeofanimportantgroupofaquaticvertebratesandwereselectedforuseinthestudy `based uponpasthistoryofuse and ease of culturing inthelaboratory.Fatheadminnowembryos used inthistest originated fromcultures maintainedbyWildlifeInternationalLtd., Easton,Maryland.The embryoswere removedfromspawningsubstratesandexaminedunderthe dissectingmicroscope to selecthealthyspecimens at `apprtho e saxmei stamgea of dteveeloplmenyt. Embryos collected for useinthetestwere from six individual `spawnsandwere lessthan 24hours oldwhenthetestwasinitiated. `Newly-hatched larvae were fedlivebrine shrimpnauplii (Artemia sp.) 3timesper dayduring the first 7 dayspost-hatch.OnDays 8through 40post-hatch,allfish werefed livebrineshrimpnauplii 3timesdaily on `weekdaysand2times dailyon weekends.Brineshrimpnaupliiwereobtainedby hatchingcystspurchasedfrom `Bon Artn emieaInvteri natl ional lIne c.,SaltLakeCity,Utah.
