Dear Dr. Wirth: I am sending you herewith a report of the results obtained on the series of ten tubes used for the collection of lead from air samples. ' 1 1 ' 1 I believe that you vill find these results generally self ex planatory, but perhaps it vould be vise to comment briefly on the three excessively high results. You vill note that reference is made to the fact that the caps on certain of the tubes appeared to be contaminated with metallic material. This does not permit u s 'to disregard the significance of the high results, although it does cast some slight, doubt upon and #9. It so happens that #9 appears to be in keeping vith #4, and therefore the factor of contamination need not be regarded as significant in the case of #9. Both of these results are quite high, but they are not particularly surprising to me in view of results ve have obtained under conditions apparently somewhat similar. . All in all it seems quite clear to me that there are evidences of excessive lead exposure in connection with certain of your operations, ho doubt you are familiar vith the standard of 1.5 m g s . per 10 cubic meters as the upper limit of safe exposure for regularly incurred occupational exposure.
