As you know, we are now doing ten examinations a week, rather than just eight, and I am reading the EKG's, This is taking about an hour longer than, we had originally planned. I gat hints that there are some problems with "cash flow*' with the company. The ten examinations a week under the old plan would have amounted to $450.00. Could we split the difference at $375.00 a week? To my dismay, I heard today that Joe Odom is leaving the company. He has been a tower of strength in helping us get set up and in problem-solving at the local level. It is influenced by diet, activity, stress, weight, smoking and other diseases. With proper management, many of these parameters can be altered and there fore the risk of cardiovascular disease reduced. Many individuals have increased risks of coronary disease because of their diet, ac tivity and weight, let alone the stress of business and life. The Learning Resource Center at West Florida Hospital and The Medical Center Clinic in cooperation with the University of West Florida is undertaking a seminar designed to instruct individuals on how to reduce their risks of cardiovascular disease. The emphasis will be placed on education and management of personal health. The seminar will Include: A. Risk Factors of ^Cardiovascular Disease. B. Coronary Atheroecleroais-Is It Reversible? C. Industrial Audiology. D. Workshop (6 hours)on How To Reduce Your Stress. It is our purpose to instruct the executive in proper health manage ment and guide him in his own care. Since this would affect the general well being of your executive, we felt that you would be in terested in this program. Shirley Garnett in out Learning Resource Center will be following up this letter by a phone call to you within the next few days to assess your feelings and the degree of participation which you desire. FLORIDA 32504 ODOM SEP 0 6 1977 It has cooe to my attention that there are an increasing number of instances in vhlch a vehicle is required by Bebe Mite at the Dispensary to transport injured vorkers to covn which really are not serious enough to warrant use of the ambulance. They need to transport men to the labora tory and K-ray facilities at least twice a week, also. They are having increasing problems finding a free company car. Box 467 Pensacola, Florida 32592 Dear Joe: I have talked with Dr. Kichler about Dr* Xichler says his skin condition of the forehead is now normal and feels that there is no need for him to avoid amines or other chemical vapors to the concentration that they are now present in his working environment. Dr. Kichler also says that if he can wear a foam rubber pad over the scar on the forehead and then a hard hat, that would be permissible. If, however, a hard hat is intolerably uncomfortable even with the foam, then other job arrangements may have to be made. I also talked with Dr. J. D. Williams and Dr. Jim Picardi about They tell me he has a chronic lung infection with a bacteria which they cannot completely eradicate. However, no treatment ia indicated at present or until or if he develops fever, purulent sputum, etc. They feel that the infection is not producing progressive damage of the lung. They feel that no further measures are necessary at present in spite of the miserable pulmonary function tests we got on this last exami nation. Finally, who was caught in the explosion in February, is still being studied under Dr. Jim Brown at the West Florida Hospital. Dear Joe: Just a note to let you know that the company is not coming through on its promise to provide us with adequate secretarial help in the dis pensary. ''They" keep calling her back "up front" to "help out". Yesterday, for example, when BeB was trying to set up today's schedule, Vicki was recalled. In the middle of my work, today, when I badly needed her to check some forms and so forth, she was gone again. As we discussed, there has also been some lag in setting up a satisfactory follow up tickle file due largely to her prolonged absences. If we are to get this thing really going the way the new facilities allow, we will need Vicki all morning five mornings a week, for openers. Someone else will have to serve as utility infielder "up front". Otherwise, things seem to be going splendidly. It is a great help to have all of the laboratory and other results in hand at the time I examine the employee. Thanks again for your usual fine cooperation.
