Dear Br* Rankini We nov have; al^li^Mojaiatioa that is needed to decide the status, of and the analy tical results corbelief, arrived at independently from consideration of the other facts, that these men have eliminated the lead absorbed as a consequence of their comparatively brief period of exposure. I am also convinced from the clinical evidence that they have no disability and. that their reluctance to return to work is due either to conscious and unconscious fear, or perhaps to some lack of desire to vork so long as compensation can be obtained by other means . Because of my opinion about these men I do not believe we should continue to provide the medical support for their com pensation for persistent occupational illness. I should be quite prepared, as I know you are, to certify that they are ready to return to vork, allowing matters to take their course from there on. I am not quite sure whether the handling of these cases from here on out is a matter for.du Pont or Ethyl. However, in either, easel think it would be wise for you to discuss the matter with Mr. Fisher and Mr. Bond, giving them my opinion and expressing your own as you like. Just what is done from there on out will depend on their judgment, but I think that we could scarcely justify efforts to see that they remain on Sfste compensation for a longer period.
