Company Cadwalder V/ickersham L Taft NIMA \___-- APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made, seconded and passed That the Minutes of the Board of Dircctorc Meeting of October 8, 1963, as bulletined by the Association be approved. ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATIONS It v.-._c reported that letters of resignation had been received from Mur.det Cork Corporation, M. H. Detrick Company and Keasbty L Mattison Compaq, A motion was made, seconded and passed That the resignations be accepted with regret. TREASURER'S REPORT Mr. V.\ C-. Neel outlined the Association's Balance Sheet, Statement of Income and >:penditures, and Comparison of Actual Expense to Budge: as of March 31, 1964. A motion was made seconded and passed That the Treasurer's Report be accepted and further That the separate accounting pertaining to the sales of the Economic Thickness Manual be discontinued. BROADENING OF MEMBERSHIP The expansion of membership to include foamed plastic manufacturers was discussed. A Committee consisting of Messrs. F. D. Xaley, Chairman, R. E. Buckley and H. B. Moreno was appointed for the purpose of making recom mendations on the subject at the next scheduled Board of Directors Meeting. --AIM----S----A--N--D---O---B---J--E--C---T---I-V--E---S----O--F----M----A--R---K--E---T--T--N---G-----R--E---S--E---A--R- -C--H-- --COM--M;I-T---T--E---EThr future projects of the Marketing Research Committee, as outlined in the Committee Minutes of March 13, 1964, were discussed. It was agreed that the following were reasonable and practical projects for the Committee to undertake: 1. Define existing statistical reporting product categories and products reported. 2m V/ork with the Bureau of Census, Department of Commerce, etc., to improve government statistical reporting. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF MARKETING RESEARCH COMMIT iXE (cor.vV.T)' ' l-x. 3. . Attempt to ascertain the market potentials of competitive materials (foamed plastics, rtc.) (with respect to the investigation of the broade-Jng of the Association member ship to encompass foamed piastic types of insulation, it was suggested that the Comminee be informed of this fact and contact the special committee investigating this subject), 4, Follow up Mr. R. E. Bunk'ey's letter pertaining to number of hours worked by union Iconic in 1963. STATISTICAL REPORTING It was reported that several companies were unable to report statistics on a state basis at this time and tnct Price Waterhouse L Company had been advised to continue statistics on the old basis for the present time (monthly and regional reports). It was decided that 1963 statistics should not be compiled on a state basis inasmuch as this information is not readily available from the members. Further, it was decided that it was not practical to establish separate reporting categories for "ftred b?nn'c*V> and "coated blanket", and that the single "faced and coated blanket" category be retained for statistical reporting purposes. The crtablishmtrnt of a separate category for reporting "Prefabricated Durt Systems" was discussed. The glass manufacturers will be letter balloted on this subject prior tc July 1, 1964. NTMA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM This subject was discussed in detail and it was decided that, such a program would not be undertaken. OT1-F-K BUSINESS 1. Mr. Barnhart v.-aa asked to contact NFPA relative to membership o on the Air Conditioning Committee. 2 . The Duct Systems Committee is asked to present a survey of code changes that have been made that increase the use of prefabricated duct systems. i'xCi O '1 V: 4 3. It was reported that the NJMA lease expires on April 31, 1964. It was agreed that the lease should be renewed for 3 years, provid ing any increase in rent that may be asked by the landlord will not exceed 10 percent. Mr. J. M. Barnhart will discuss the new lease with Mr. M. W. Burleson before signing. 4. It was agreed that the N1MA Annual Meeting would be held at the Seaview Country Club, Absecon, N. J., on October 5 and 6, 1964. ^ It was reported that Johns-Manville Sales Corp., was printing on cortons, crates, etc., containing asbestos products (calcium silicate, magnesia, asbestos cements) a note pertaining to the dust created be these materials. The wording will be as follows: " Caution: This product contains asbestos fiber. Inhalation of asbestos in excessive quantities over long periods of time may be harmful. If dust is created when this product is handled, avoid breathing the dust. If adequate ventilation control is not possible wear respirators approved by the U. S. Bureau of Mines for pncumocoriosis producing dust. " ADJOURNMENT There being no further business The meeting was adjourned. V
