7 A Before he passed away Mr. Grewe indicated
8 that throughout his career as an automobile service
9 mechanic from approximately 1957 through 1992 and
10 before when he was a teenager he was exposed to
11 asbestos-containing dust from his repair and
12 maintenance of asbestos-containing brake linings,
13 brake pads and clutch linings.
14 Part of that dust exposure resulted from his
15 work in sanding and scoring the brake shoes and using
16 an air hose to blow out dust from brake drums upon
17 removal.
18 His brake and clutch work was sometimes
19 daily and later performed weekly.
20 He estimated that 20 to 25 percent of his
21 work during his career involved servicing brakes. He
