As indicated it is clear for us that although fluoropolymers can be considered PFAS due to their structural makeup, they have unique physical, chemical, environmental, and toxicological properties which differentiate them from other PFAS. The conclusions of the "Grouping of PFAS for human health risk assessment' paper attached and our PLC paper (A critical review of the application of polymer of low concern regulatory criteria to fluoropolymers II: Fluoroplastics and fluoroelastomers (wiley.com)) provide evidence that PFAS should not be grouped together as one for the purpose of regulation. We strongly believe that segmentation that clearly differentiates the broad PFAS family according to their properties is needed for a scientifically sound, risk-based regulatory approach.
