Details of Development Several resids were tried, namely RC-395 at 51-5# oil, 5056 Solids, LO/PE for R0-204 and PRC-P-12835 at 57# oil, 55# solids LO/PE for Rp-141 in 28-653. Gloss and dry using combina tion of these two resins were unsatisfactory. Combinations of BC-395 sad. P-RC-P-3698I a 60# oil, 65# solids, LO/PE resin were also ^satisfactory for dry and gloss. W-28/W-34 at 75/25 ratio was then substituted for W-3, H-253 eliminated and VB-5259 sub stituted for VH-7552. This material looked ,vfcry good both for gloss add dry. However, it was decided to try PRC-P-47621, a 60# oil, 55# Solids LO/PE resin which was being used in Brush TDuco in order to standardize on one resin if possible. Results with PRC-P-47621 were very nearly equal to PRC-P-3698I and could be considered as a satisfactory substitute for 80-204 and RC-141 from the standpoint of gloss and dry. The same results with this resin In the flat and semi-gloss were obtained. Because of increased amounts of glycerin beooming avail able , It .was decided not ..to shift ihdse three.products to a LO/PE basis* No work was don toward development of LO/PE Black or eval uating Brush "Duco" PE Black.
