K* 0015519 r How to Select Fuel for Gasoline Pressure Appliances Most Gasoline Pressure Appliances are built to operate properly on any good, fresh, clean motor gasoline, which may be either white or colored, provided it does not contain lubricating oil, graphite. Ethyl fluid or other lead anti-knock compounds. Such substances rapidly clog appliance generators! Many of the lower priced Motor Gasolines meet these simple requirements, and are excellent fuels for Gasoline Pressure stoves, ranges, heaters, camp stoves, lamps, lan terns, irons, blow torches, etc. Some oil companies now market, "Special Gasoline Pressure Appliance Fuels," which are shipped from their refineries in clean new steel barrels. These fuels, which are plainly identified on our approval lists, can be depended upon to give extra long, troublefree service in gasoline pressure appliances. Ask your oil company representative if one or more of his gasolines are suitable for this class of service. If he does not know, ask him to find out and arrange to keep on hand a supply of fuel which is suitable for your Gasoline Pressure Appliance. Keep gasoline in clean, small, closed metal cans. Do not use glass containers even for pouring gasoline. Store in cool place. Exposure to air, sunlight, and heat causes gasoline to become discolored and form gums which rapidly clog generators and other important parts of the appliance. 2. Rest the spout of the gasoline can on the metal funnel, or metal fount of the ap pliance when filling the fount. 3. Buy a fresh supply often.--once a week during hot weather. 4. Clean out fount, or tank, frequently-- once a month in hot weather. If the ap pliance has not been used for several months, rinse the fount with fresh, clean gasoline before usifig. 5. Keep the gas tip open by cleaning occa sionally with the special tip cleaner fur nished with the appliance, or by turning the valve stem so cleaner needle enters' gas tip. 6. Use the free consulting service offered by United Laboratories (see other side). (a) Ask for the latest list of gasolines recommended for gasoline appliances in your state. (b) Write us about troublesome cases resulting from the use of unsatisfac tory fuel. 7.
