In regard to the use of tank trucks for carriage of ETHYL end nQ" fluid, about which I wrote Dr. Kehoe before he left, we are in the throes of drawing up a contract and hope to have it finished in the next day or so. One provision of it, however, reads as follows: "(P. 3. Kramme, the truck owner, agrees) to have at all times on the trucks operated under this agreement two competent and reliable opera tors and no more, both of whom shall have been examined and approved by the medical representatives of the party of the second part (Ethyl Corporation) before assignment to the operation of the trucks. The party of the first part will permit the medical representatives of the party of the second part to examine the operators of such trucks and anyone under the control of the party of the first part whose work may have exposed him to ETHYL and "Q" fluids at any reasonable time said representatives may desire, and will follow all reasonable recommendations of such representatives as to observation, care and treatment of such persons. The .party of the second part will bear all expense in connection with such examinations, but not for ovservation, care and treatment". We think that this clause will give us all necessary medical control over these truck drivers. The construction of the trucks and the tanks is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed early in August. John Schaefer would like very much to have one of your staff visit our Plant at Carney's Point for the initial examination of these men, whenever it can be conveniently arranged. If you will please advise us when you will be able to have one of your doctors at the Plant, we will make all of the necessary arrangements to have the designated men ready for examination.
