Department of Labor Bulletin dated 3/27/71* -- OSHA alerts Employers and Employees to New Asbestos Hazards". According to this release OSHA has learned of a new found source of hazardous exposure to asbestos fibers and that many apackllng and taping compounds used to cover seams in dry-wall joints contain asbestos. In order to comply with instructions of this directive It was requested in our letters of last year that we obtain from your organization an analysis of the products and specifically those that contain asbestos being sold to the Sherwin Williams Co. for resale. Upon a complete review of all the information that has been sent in, it was noted that your company was one of the few that did not honor this request. It becomes vitally important at this time, that you forward to our attention immediately complete analysis and a copy of your current labels for the above materials that are sold to our Corporation. I cannot stress enough the urgency and cooperation of this request, otherwise, steps to remove your line from the approved source of supply could be taken.
