THE LARGEST PAINT AND VARNISH MAKERS IN THE WORLD
The paint*, varnishes, colon and specialties listed in the following pages Include everything demanded in modern finishing. They will satisfactorily supply the paint and varnish needs of the painter and decorator, the sign-writer, the contractor and builder, the architect, the carriage custom ana repair shop, the property owner, the farmer and the housewife.
We offer our line of products to the trade with the knowledge that they will ful fill every claim we make for them and, when used as intended, will always prove satisfactory.
Controlling as we do, the supply of nearly all important raw materials used In our products and maintaining chemical laboratories sod tearing-rooms where they are carefully examined for quality, we are able to offer goods of higher quality, which are more reliable and uniform than those made by less favorably situated makers. When pushed by a live, wide-awake merchant, Sherwin-Williams Paints and Varnishes will overcome competition, bring good trade and profits and give the dealer a reputation for reliable goods that will be one of his most valuable trade assets.
The Sherwin-Williams Co. was founded in 1866. Ever since that time we have held strictly to the highest standard of quality in paint and varnish making. We believed that the best goods would sell the best and our splendid success has proved. we were right. Today we are the largest concern of the kind and expanding rapidly. Our facilities include:
Factories in Cleveland, Chicago, Montreal, Newark, Bound Brook, N. J., San Francisco and London, England.
Warehouses and offices in principal cities from Atlantic to Pacific Ocean.
Representatives covering every Important paint and varnish field in the world.
Linseed oil mills, where we make, treat and age strictly pure linseed oil for our products.
Lead and sine mines and smelters, where we employ large forces of men to mine and convert these ores.
Intermediate, dye and chemical plants where we produce base materials for use in the manufacture of paints, stains, enamels, etc.
White lead plants, where we corrode white lead by the Old Dutch Process, and manufacture other lead products.
Arid manufacturing plants, producing great quantities of Acetic and other adds.
Dry color factories, the largest and best equipped in America, where our dry colors are made.
Lithopone plant, where the highest grade of Iithopone is produced for me in Flat-Tone and kindred product*.
Dry Lime-Sulfur, Arsenate of Lead and Paris Green factories, where we make a complete line of insecticides and fungicides.
Varnish, japan and drier works, where these products are made exclusively. Tin can factories, that make the tin cans we use.
Printing plant, with modern presses, bindery, sampling and finishing de partment. etc., where our advertising and printing are economically handled. Machine shops, that make mills and machinery of our exclusive design.
These facilities enable us to make sure our goods are right from the foundation up and save us much in cost of manufacture that is put into the quality of the goods and the maintenance of a strict standard of service.

COLORS^FOR FLAT-TONE SYSTEM EFFECTS'
Js-' Flat-Tone Glaze Colors ere especially prepared for use oa welts, ceilings end relief work to produce rich, transparent glaze effects over a suitable groundwork of opaque color. By using these colors in connection with Flat-Tone Glazing Liquid over a suitable groundwork, such as S-W Flat-Tone or ODP White Lead, the exper
ienced decorator or painter can obtain an infinite variety of shades, with tones of great depth and beauty of color, and of a character impossible with any other finish. Owing to the variety of effects obtained, it is always possible to finish walls and ceil ings in perfect harmony with the rest of the color-scheme, not only in an endless variety of colors, but alao in effects, ranging from the simple transparent glaze to a two or three-color mottled and blended effect. Flat-Tone Glaze Color* are ground in oil to impalpable fineness, and by the addition of Flat-Tone Glazing Liquid can be reduced to the most delicate tones, yet always retaining their brilliancy, no matter what the reduction. They are extremely transparent, lack any tendency to clouding and blend admirably with suitable groundwork, giving a depth of cotor usually found only in rich fabrics. They are adapted for use in the most elaborate stencil decorations on walls and ceilings--both for application of the stencil itself and for "tinting in" the design.

FLAT-TONE MULTI-COLOR STIPPLE EFFECTS
There is a well defined demand for a decorated wall which shall have an Interest' ing and pleasing texture to relieve the severity of the wall painted in a simple plain color. While there are at present beautiful mottled effects which can be produced with S-W Glaring Materials, the demand has been for a stippled wall effect, which ' should require no special tinting colors, and which should be simple to produce.
Tbe Flat-Tone Multi-Color process requires no special colors, only the regular colors of Flat-Tone shown in our color card. CC 10. A sponge is used to apply tbe tipple colors over the foundation color effect. This is done by rubbing the sponge into a small quantity of Flat-Tone which has been poured out on a board, being care ful that the sponge does not take up too much paint so as to blur when applied to the wall. Tbe sponge acts Just like a rubber stamp, and makes a print of *t own texture upon the wall. The more interesting tbe texture of the sponge, the more interesting will be the print upon the wall. Choose a sponge, therefore, with this in mind, selecting one of good rise. Slice the bottom off with tt large knife before wetting, and wash the sponge out in clean warm water. It is then ready to use.
.For full directions, see Form S-1678.

OLD DUTCH ENAMEL
"Beds the Dutch for Whitenessn
Here we have an enamel equal in every'senae of the word to the beat imported enamels. There is no other enamel made in America today that . possesses the same high qualities of many of the imported enamels in durability and *P* pearance. Old Dutch Enamel is not a varnish enamel and consists only of the highest quality finely ground cine--ground in processed linseed oil. For this reason Old Dutch Enamel will not turn yellow with age nor '`alligator'* like varnish enamels. This is one of the nicest enamels to apply, as it flows remarkably free, does not "set op" quickly and can be worked over large panels without showing laps or streaks. Old Dutch Enamel comes in three shades; White, Ivory, and French Gray, approved and selected by the nation's leading architects and decorators. It is supplied in two finishes--gloat and egg-shell. Old Dutch Enamel can be used for both interior and exterior work.
For undercoats use either S-W ODP White Lead or S-W Enamel Undereoater No. 12.

DRY LIME-SULFUR
("The OriginaT')
Dry Lime-Sulfur is the most valuable new spraying product that has been developed in recent years. For a long time Lime-Sulfur Solution has been the standard dormant and summer spray for apples, pears, plums and other tree fruits. Orehardists are familiar with the disadvantages connected with the use of LimeSulfur Solution. These include heavy handling of barrels, losses due to leakage, crystallisation and freezing and freight on water.
S-W Dry Lime-Sulfur is the only true Dry Lime-Sulfur made today. It it not a substitute for Lime-Sulfur Sotution, but is standard 33* Baume Lime-Sulfur Solution in dry powdered form. It dissolves readily in water and will control all insects and diseases just as effectively as Lime-Sulfur Solution.
S-W Dry Lime-Sulfur is an effective remedy for San Jose and Oyster-Shell scale, peach leaf curt, peach blight, peach twig borer, apple and pear acab, brown rot of apricot, red spider and mites on citrus fruits.
