METHOD NO.: 4-115
TITLE:
Wet Screen Analysis, Blending Resins
SCOPE:
The quantitative determination of resin retained on a 200 mesh screen.
APPARATUS:
Torsion Balance U.S. Standard Screen, 200 mesh Oven, forced air
CHEMICALS:
Sample to be tested. Tap water.
PROCEDURES:
1. To a tared 200 mesh screen add 50 grams of resin to be tested.
2. Place under running tap water and agitate with the fingers until the only sample remaining is that which cannot pass through the screen.
3- Place the wet screen in a forced air oven until dry.
4. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature.
5- Weigh on torsion'balance. The increase of weight recorded (a).
CALCULATIONS: A x 2 = $ retained
REPORT:
Report to the nearest 0.1$.
