Karas August 2, 1985 RECEIVEO AUG 0 7 1985 SUPPLY & TRANSPORTATION PRODUCTS WITH COMPONENT PRICING A recent decision to price the LAC stream to Du Pont on a component basis prompted a review of product names and codes used in component pricing. Attached is a summary of the current status of the streams and their component names and codes. Please note that the Light Aromatic Concentrate's primary component has been assigned a new product code. This deviates from the procedure used for Propylene Concentrate and Butadiene Concentrate. When component pricing was initiated, new product codes were assigned to the components. This caused a problem at the plant because the first product code on an order is used to identify the stream according to the Spec Book. But, the Spec Book did not have a specification for the components. So, the product code for the first component was changed to the product code for the stream. This satisfied the plant's identification problem. However, the product name in the Product and Container File had to be changed to reflect the component name on the invoice. This entire procedure distorted the history for that year in computer-generated reports. For the LAC, we have left both the names and product codes for the two existing LAC streams intact. New product codes have been assigned to each of the two components. The spec sheet for the first component will reflect the specs for the stream, noting that the code is for the component pricing. In this manner, the plant will be able to identify the stream from the first code, and the computer-generated reports will accurately reflect all product names and volumes.
